I've been waitlisted at 2 schools and am still waiting to hear back from them and am currently hoping for the best. Has anyone here recently gotten off the waitlist and have any good news to share?
Be prepared for literally a moments notice-I know at my school people on the wait list were still getting calls and starting classes two weeks into the semester. (That was just for the school of arch, though-they were all already enrolled at the university and signed up for the program starting during the next semester.) You should contact whoever is in charge of admissions for the program, they at least should be able to let you know when final decisions will be made and how likely it is that anyone on the wait list gets in. (My school had a very high drop-out rate so like half the people on the wait list ended up making it in, but most didnt find out until the week classes started.) Also, you should check into any fast-track programs the schools might have. (My school had a special summer program where students from other majors could transfer into the arch dept and start with second year classes in the fall.)
I've tried contacting the coordinator multiple times and she keeps saying that she doesn't know when they'll know about any admissions off the waitlist. I was orginally waitlisted at the end of March and was hoping I would find out by the end of June so I could get any funding prepared for the fall, but at this point it looks that isn't going to happen. I'm still hoping for the best, but it's getting pretty difficult to perpetually wait.
College administrators are pretty much never all that helpful and usually purposefully vague. Like I said you may wanna check out different programs at different schools. Even if you dont start school in the fall, you might not have to wait a whole year before getting into a program. Good luck.

As a college administrator, I would disagree with the above statement. College administrators typically share the truth. Given the number of applicants this year, it is likely that programs will pull off the waitlist, but deposited students will sometimes pull out at the last minute making room at the very end.
I suggest you continue to keep in touch if interested in the program.
Didn't mean that as a personal attack on all college administrators everywhere, but I had a few terrible experiences while I with my university. Generally speaking it was difficult to get someone on a phone or make an appointment to meet with them in person. Often times one administrator would send me to another who would send me back to the first one. And, it would often take weeks to have a simple piece of paper signed. Usually it wasnt this bad with in the architecture department, because many of the administrators there where also professors and knew all the students, and they often were willing to help students having problems with departments outside of architecture, but it still could be very frustrating.
letgo-Speaking of professors, if the schools have open houses you should try to attend or maybe set up a personal visit/tour of the arch dept. It couldnt hurt to familiarize yourself with the school and staff, and it could help you get a better understanding of the way the school is run and what they look for in prospective students and how you can stand out on the wait list or for the next year.
letgo, you're waitlisted at U of T and Dal, right? I applied to Dal and was accepted a while ago, and I think they think I'm going even though I didn't accept their offer of admission (I'm going to U of T). So I'll let them know I'm definitely not attending...keep your fingers crossed.
Ball State, you spend freshman year taking normal course classes and then you spend the summer sessions in design studios, then you start second year with everybody else. I am not sure if the program still exsists or not-i graduated several years ago and I know there have been a lot of changes to the program since then.
thanks d33s5. My first choice is actually UofT, so hopefully I'll see you there in the fall, but if accepted to Dal I would be happy to attend there as well.
I'm still on the waitlist at Pratt and Sci-arc.....Sci-arc I probably wont get into but what about Pratttttttt?? I really wanted to go there, anyone hear anything?
Anyone have any luck getting off a waitlist?

Jay, where is your school that has the fast track program?

If you are interested in the school-keep calling and let them know you are still interested...it may very well help.
