Would you happen to know the statistics to admitted people to people that applied this year for MArch? I heard there were about double the apps.

Anyone else in the 1 year post professional program?

I applied to the M.Arch 1 year post professional program, and I was recently given an e-mail about how the program changed its name from an M.Arch degree to the M.S. Arch degree. should I be concerned about the change in nomenclature, or is the name change merely a technicality?

I already have a B.Arch degree, which is accredited, but a part of me is sad that I won't have M.Arch on my degree upon completion, and instead I will have a M.S. Arch. Am I just being silly for feeling like the degree and wording is now somewhat tainted?

Actually the MS Arch designation is common for post-professional degrees and these are often linked with advanced research.

UPenn, Virginia Tech, UC Berkeley, Georgia Tech and Pratt all have MS Arch degrees for students who already hold professional degrees. There are a few other post-professional programs with other MS titles: MIT has a MS in Arch Studies, Columbia has a MS in Advanced Arch Design and Rennselaer has a MS in Arch Sciences.

You should NOT be concerned! As stated previously, the MArch is a first professional degree; as you have the BArch, you have a first professional degree.

Now, you are pursuing a post-professional MS Arch. Later, potential employers will know the difference.

Not to worry.
