well.. i had straight A's in my year of university, 3 years of college with a 3.5 average and what i believed to be a strong portfolio, i met all of the requirements that susanna told me and that were listed on dals website, with the addition of 3 years in college for architecture and working for an architect for the past 4 years but i was denied
ive been planning on going to dal for 2 years now, i dont know what more i can do to get accepted, straight A's for the past 2 years of education, architecture has been my life, my hobby and career, my vacations are trips to frank lloyd wright houses and on my spare time i sit on archinect or read architecture mags..
ive been in school for 4 years now and to get my bachelors degree i guess it would take 4 more years, then 2 more to get a masters..
i dont know what they want, i gave them everything, i work 40 hours a week for an architect, i take full time courses at university and get A's..
im tired, very tired, but i dont know where to go from here, even if i apply next year im going to give them the same material i gave them this year, my marks and situation wont change, i dont know, maybe its over for me? i cant take 6 more years of school, i will be 32 by the time id graduate, someone tell me what to do.. .......
I think that if you are very passionate about architecture you should stick with it. There were people in my program that were in their late 20s graduating with their undergrad. What program were you taking in university? If it wasn't architecture, maybe you can apply for the environmental design program at another school (i.e. UofM, UBC) and hopefully they can transfer some of your credits. You could also complete you bachelor in whatever subject you are studying, and pursue a masters degree at a school that doesn't require a bachelor of architecture as a prerequisite (i.e. UBC, University of Calgary, UofT)
I haven't heard any response from Dalhousie yet regarding my application. How did you find out that you were rejected?
I think that you shouldn't give up hope just yet. It is a very competitive field to get into, especially this year. I know some students as well that only completed a bachelor of environmental design and did not pursue their masters that continue to work as designers in architecture firms. They just require a licensed architect or civil engineer to approve their drawings.
You said in your post that you have been in college for 3 years, and in university for 1 year? Unless I am misreading your post - I believe that the BEDS program requires a minimum of 2 years of university in any discipline.
in discussion with susanna for the past 2 years i was to get 1 year credit for my 3 years in college and she told me to take 1 year at university then apply, she told me i could take classes related to art, sociology, math and english,
i for the past year ive been at u of windsor for visual arts, ive taken environmental, and sociology courses too... according to susanna i took everything i needed to. i specifically choose DAL because they said i could get 1 year credit, 3 of my friends did what i did but they got accepted.
i was also told that since i am a mature student that it would also increase my chances of getting in, i have been working for an architect for over 4 years now, i guess that didnt help though
i was emailed last night... i guess if you were not emailed you probably will get your acceptance today
I haven't received anything yet, I'm not expecting anything until next week but I'm not really counting on an acceptance. Have you tried contacting the school to see what you can improve on your applcation in order to reapply next year? Perhaps another year of university would increase your chances for next year?
i talked to susanna.. she was very nice but didnt specify
im going to go back to st clair college for 1 more year and there is an articulation agreement with St Clair & Lawrence Tech University in Detroit, i live in windsor, just across the river.. that i can get my bachelors degree with 4 years at St Clair and 1 year at Lawrence Tech.. so im probably going to persue that, its still only 2 more years,

I was told they would notify applicants of acceptance this week.. I'm waiting patiently with my fingers crossed.
I'm waiting for a response from them as well.

I'm from south america.
I'm planning to be there in september. I haven't heard anything either.
i makes me feel better that im not the only one who hasn't heard anything!
I called them today and they said that they are still working on them and they will hopefullly be out by the end of this week.

That's great that you have another plan of action already sorted out. Will you be pursuing an MArch after your undergrad?
I just received a response from Susanna and I was not offered an acceptance either, I was placed on the waitlist.
well, congrats on being on the wait list, i hope that comes though for you! i defiantly will be pursuing my MArch after.. you?
Thanks, I will be too. I've applied to a few other schools for MArch as I've already got a bachelor of environmental design.
