Hey does anyone have anything to say about NC state's MLA program. I am planning on applying for MLA for 2010. It is on my potential list along with UVA, UT austin and UGA. I am coming from a biochemistry undergrad and i am very interested in sustainability. Does anyone have any other suggestions in terms of schools focused on green design.
NC State has flown beneath my radar. The closest public program in the south is UGA which makes some noise about being the largest LA grad program (see their LAM profile). Mississippi has a good program if you must stay in the confederacy.
most LA grad programs have some level of ecology woven into the curriculum (mostly focused restoration & preservation), but sustainability is a new topic in LA education. The stronger sustainability programs tend to be in the north: U of Wash, MN, Penn, GSD, Cornell, Yale Forestry School, U Mass, U of Toronto, Colorado, and Berkeley to name a few.
good luck.
