Accredited university v.s. Accredited degree/program

xxpirloxx

Does anyone know what is the differences between an "Architectural degree from an accredited university" and an "Accredited Architecture degree" ?

From my knowledge, a school can be accredited but its architecture degree might not be accredited by NAAB.

Please let me know, thanks! :)

Accredited university is a university who is accredited by a regional body such as WASC. Schools such as USC, Cal poly are examples of schools that are regionally acredited by WASC. This only matters if you are considering transferring schools or apply to grad school since most schools might not accept credit from non regionally acreddited schools. If you are looking for licensure in architecture NAAB accreditation is required since most states require naab degrees as prerquiste for elgibility.

Now you do, before you didn't . All schools looking to get naab acreditation for their school now require it.

My school is not regionally acredited, but it is NAAB acredited which is important to me. Most states require a NAAB degree as one of it's prerequisites for elgibility for licensure - which I will end up qualifying after graduation. So The NAAB acrediitation is much more important to me. Don't get me wrong I would have prefered my school to be regionally acredited but in the end the NAAB is what matter for anyone interested in studing architecture.

First, architecture programs are accredited by NAAB -- www.naab.org

Institutions are regionally accredited by one of the regional accreditors -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regional_accreditation --

Please note that for an architecture program to be accredited by NAAB, it must be within an institution that is regionally accredited as a condition of NAAB accreditation.

-- The accredited degree program must be, or be part of, an institution accredited by one of the following regional institutional accrediting agencies for higher education: -- from NAAB.

Yes true that is the rule. My campus became acredited before that rule. So they have been grandfathered In. Any school looking to ad a naab acredited architecture program to their campus (present day) has to be regionally acredited
