2009 - 10 MED, CCCPArch, SMarchS, etc.

Anyone out there starting these programs or similar research-based graduate degrees this fall? I'm just curious about incoming students' backgrounds, academic interests, and what one hopes to get out of the programs.

I'm basically doing it to get some time to do extensive research in history of architecture, concepts of nature and landscape, and (maybe) late 19th/early 20th c. work in developments between science and aesthetics in central Europe.

I know these programs like to train people to "practice" architecture in a different way, but I'm not sure if I fit that mold very much since I'm basically a historian-in-training. That said, I'm really curious about others' insights into the programs.

Is it possible that we were separated at birth? I'm reading a bit on Semper and his intellectual milieu, which included early Nobel recipients in medicine, etc.

My undergrad is in political science and history, but I mainly did US constitutional development, so I don't know how I got here.
