An affordable housing project inspired by an old Welsh tradition is being prepared for shipping to a prestigious festival in the United States.
It was traditional in the 17th and 18th century for young couples to squat on land, and if they were able to build a cottage over night and have smoke coming from the chimney by dawn, they were allowed to keep the house plus an acre of land. So at dusk all their family and friends would set to work and in most cases would complete the cottage by sunrise, in fact judging by the amount of these dwellings that are still standing and in some cases still occupied they were very successful at this pastime !
