Parsons vs Syracuse for M.Arch I

Well, just when i thought things were finalized for Syracuse, I found out Im in at Parsons too...

So...any thoughts here? I cant seem to find a whole lot of student work or examples from Parsons, and have never received any of the info I requested a while back when I applied...but it somehow seems to be more art and drawing based..although I could be completely off in that assumption...

Any Parsons people on here?

okay

I'd go to Parsons, some Columbia teacher switch between Parsons and GSAPP. And with the recession hittin' new york you might get more starchitects a' teachin there. Syracuse sucks!

Why does Syracuse suck?? Most of the firms Ive spoken to in NYC and Boston recommended it over Parsons...

Have not atteneded either school, but live in nyc so am familiar with former students from both. If it were ME, i'd choose parsons. that is if money isn't too much an issue.

Parsons pros:

nyc (manhattan) location: access to top-notch lectures either at parsons or other area schools (cooper, pratt, columbia)

faculty from many nyc practices: one of the ltl guys heads the school, i think.

the design-build segment in the program

networking

feeding of the overall vitality and energy of the city.

i'm a future parsons student.

were you offered a spot of the waitlist or were you just notified late? i heard they had a really good response to the first waive so if you got offered a spot of the waitlist you were probably one of the first in line.

until visiting i was worried about the quality of student work too but there was some great stuff there. i'm sure you'll get some material in the mail now that you've been accepted.

idk what your situation is at syracuse but that school is pricey too. both will put you in enough debt to cry anyway :) consider the expense of living in or close to manhattan though

feel free to email me with questions
