How would you run 32-bit and 64-bit at the same time? Do you have to partition your hardrive or can you run both versions on 64-bit OS?

most contemporary (read: versions released in the last 4 years or so) 32bit software will run on a 64bit OS without any additional work done by you (they will typically load into the Program Files (x86) directory instead of the "regular" Program Files directory). The "x86" version is where the 64bitOS will put all 32bit programs…

I'm running Rhino 4 (32bit) in Vista Business 64--no major issues
Photoshop and Illustrator CS2 run with no major hiccups (other than what is normally seen on XP 32)
InDesign CS3 runs fine
Acrobat 8 pro needed some additional patches to run and install properly

To anyone who downloaded this... what's the CD key for the installer? My current key doesn't work...

Pod, I think someone put a link in the comments of the article where you can surf to for a key. If all else fails, go dl a keygen or something.

Is anyone going to try using Rhino on the Windows 7 beta?

Fuckin A! I can finally use rhino in a 64-bit environment rather than emulated.

Apurimac-

This could be a good enough reason for me to finally upgrade to a 64bit machine with much more ram to avoid those pesky 'out of memory' errors...

When i built my new computer I went the 64-bit route for exactly this reason, because more and more CAD programs (besides just 3ds Max) are going to be 64-bit and eventually they'll be 64-bit exclusively. I've got 4 GB of ram now, but I'm looking to get more sticks when more software can take advantage of the power. Windows XP64 is also a very solid platform, from what I can tell with it after 3 months. Windows 7 when its released later this year is also going to be 64-bit.

2nd WIP out: 04 14 09

in that year you will get something stable enough for production and many features you request i imagine like the last times.

To those who's already tried the new version -
what are the real cool features you use? I don't know yet whether it worth installing the new one at work as the old version has been working just fine except minor errors. I'm gonna do this only if I really need it. Thanx.

well--the maxwell plugin works for 32bit (you may need to manually install via the plugin command) and will work for 64bit as well if you install the Solidworks 64bit plugin (no need to have solidworks installed).

The plugin hasn't been re-compiled yet for 5.0 (obviously)

if you like to have all the lab tools plus more and real time shadows upgrade it will be like nothing happened and you are comfortable in the same environment with the same plug-ins even.

dfix--the v4.0 versions may work without any upgrade to the tools themselves though I haven't tried them out yet on v5.0

FYI--

Nextlimit just released a new version of their Rhino plugin that's been recompiled specifically for Rhino 5--it will now work in 32 and 64 bit (you no longer need the Solidworks x64 plugin installed to use Rhino5 x64 and Maxwell)
