Ok, I know this is old news, but I just heard about it and searched to see if there was a post about it on here. Alas, there was none. I guess I am just trying to give credit where it's deserved.
Jan Kaplicky was founder and principal of London-based firm Future-Systems. He passed away January 14, 2009 in Prague.
I know that many people are familiar with Future-System's work, but at the same time many are not. Their projects (built and unbuilt) are among my favorites. Hopefully, this post will expose more people to the wonderful body of work put out by Jan Kaplicky and Future-Systems. Indeed, you are missed.
You must have some mad search skills. Regardless of those other links, I still don't feel guilty for posting this. Maybe someone will read who is new to Future Systems, or who is already familiar with them and just missed the news of Kaplicky's passing (such as myself).
Jan Kaplický, leading architect behind Future Systems, has passed away at the age of 71, hours after his wife gave birth to their daughter. from the news

at first i didn't quite like the prague library design, but it really grew on me.
It was shocking news and took everyone by surprise. It also got lost in the news cycle. Didn't he have a child on the way?
Weird, when I searched for Kaplicky the only thing that showed up was:
