I'm a graduate student beginning research on a women's crisis shelter design project. My research will be done through a variety of means including volunteering in an actual shelter, but I'm having a difficult time finding any resources on shelter design or architectural perspectives on crisis environments. Anybody have any resources or know of any shelter projects I'd be able to investigate? (I do realize there is an obvious need for confidentiality surrounding crisis shelters, by the way).
In my undergraduate program, the class a year behind me worked on a design renovation for a women's shelter in Brooklyn. If you email me, I can put you in touch with a faculty member and student who worked on this project.
