Texture-fill in photoshop

Moses

Hi guys,

Im creating a section of a building, but im using Photoshop.

does anyone know of photoshop patterns that can be used just like in AutoCAD which has many textures (dots & lines)...

p.s im not talking about render patters such as wood and concrete, im talking about 2D black and white lines like autocad.

... except i need them as patterns for photoshop.

anyone know how or where these types of patterns are on the internet, or do use another method on photoshop

help much appreciated

thanks

honestly you would be a lot better off using illustrator. it's a vector based-program that is designed to handle things like line-weights and text. photoshop is really only meant for editing and adjusting images. any "line-drawing" made in photoshop is going to look like crap because it's going to pixelate the lines, there is no snapping, so your edges won't be sharp and making and adjusting line weights is going to be a total pain the ass.

also if you were to use illustrator, you would find that it has all of the patterns you are looking for already made in the swatch library.

seriously dude, save yourself the trouble. spend an hour and learn how to use illustrator.

With the caveat that the above post is correct and photoshop is probably not the tool for the job:
You can easily draw a small sample the hatch that you want with the line tool and then define it as a pattern (edit:define pattern) and then fill the poché with the pattern...or make a big hatched area in ACAD, pdf it, bring it into photoshop, put it under the layers with the section and make the poché transparent...the list goes on.

Illustrator:

Window-->swatches-->window opens and there is a box on the edge to the right with a small arrow pointing down and a few horizontal lines/bars...click that... scroll to open swatch library--->patterns--->basic graphics--->choose your own adventure
