There are two exams to be taken:
1) design - you have 8 hours to design (by hand/ruler/square) somenthing chosing from 3/4 option following all the italian building regulations.
2) oral exam - (only if you pass the design test) questions about the design test and italian building regulations.
The exams are scheduled few times every year: after you take the design test they call you (usually after 2/3 months) for the oral exam.
GOOD LUCK!

blurb,

did you go to school in US/Canada? if so, I guess my question is how difficult is it for you to have your education and potentially any previous work experience recognized by the italian architectural association. do you have EU citizenship?
what is your plan? i was thinking about doing something like that too in 2 or 3 years.
