I'm planning to attend TU Delft for MSc.Arch. in fall '09.
Does anyone have any idea whether the fire would compromise the quality of my education at TU Delft?
as of about a month ago, the architecture faculty is completely moved into their new semi-permanent facility until a new building is constructed. the current facility is an old campus building that has been renovated, and many students say the new facility is more spacious and much nicer than the old. there are some extensions to the building that are still under construction, but should be complete by next fall.
as for quality of education, facility-wise, it's actually a step up from what was there before. some past students have complained and petitioned about having their studies in tents, but that should be a thing of the past by next year. i've also heard that there are some budget issues related to the new building and the current economic slump, but i don't know the specifics and it may be wise to ask someone in the administration about that.
Thank you for your response, dot.
As you sound like you are a student there, may I ask you another question?
I understand from their website that students can study at another institution (eg. Berlage Institute, MIT, ETH) in the second half of the first year. Is this really the case? I presume certain exchange programs are applicable to particular specialization programs. How easy/difficult is it to participate? Is there information about this online that I've missed? Thanks in advance!
i'm only here for a semester and am not a full-time student so my knowledge is limited, but i do know that delft has exchange programs with many schools everywhere and some are tied to a specific track. for example, the berlage is tied to DSD and RMIT has their own cluster. schools like SCI-Arc I think are entirely an exchange meaning you take SCI-Arc classes. it's really case by case, but you are correct, your second semester is the only time you may veer from your chosen track.
generally, i've found that finding answers related to delft is daunting. my best advice is to try and contact a full-time student to answer your questions.
I completed my Bachelor of Applied Science (Architecture Science) RIBA Part 1 at Curtin University of Technology a year ago and am considering doing a dual/joint architecture masters program in Europe (its okay if a partner/second University is not European). Can anyone please advise? English language. Thank you
