for sure check out the De Young Museum (by Herzog & DeMeuron) and right across the street, the newly opened Academy of Sciences Museum (by Renzo Piano) in Golden Gate park.
Just off Union Square, is a street called Maiden Lane. In this street is the only Frank Lloyd Wright designed building in San Francisco. If you walk down there you won't miss it.
Grateful Dead fan?...probably not. Well if you are....Phil Lesh and Friends w/ Ratdog on 12/30 and 12/31 @The Bill Graham Civic Auditorium. Get your face melted!

san francisco in the new year... places to go, things to do...
heyhey all,
looking for recommendations on what to see/do in SF in the new year... any cool places to visit? archi and non-archi related...
we're staying downtown-ish somewhere and will be relying on public transport / occassional taxis...

To get there, take the N-Judah Muni line from downtown to Judah & 9th Ave (I think...) and walk north
