can anyone direct me to any books or links or names of people who are known for their line drawings? either architects or artists who do most of their work in lines and lineweights?
i guess piranesi would qualify - but i'm interested in more contemporary work.
Julie Mehretu is amazing. I saw her stuff at the Louisiana museum in Denmark.
Some of her drawings are of a ridiculous scale. The drawback is , no book is ever going to make her works justice - the beauty in this case is in the details, and even her smallest work is 4X3 feet. Luckily, at Luisiana they were selling full-size posters prints of some stuff.
Another aspect you won't see online or in a book is the layering of lines. Each drawing is composed of 10-15 layers of clear acrylic, so the real drawings have a distinct depth to them.
i assume you have the miralles croquis? it's big and expensive, but it's a must have if you are a fan. and whatever you think of his architecture, liebeskind's drawings are fantastic
sweet line drawings like miralles

Paul Rudolph... Master of the Rapidograph.
Also Archigram did some cool stuff graphically

those Rudolph drawings are fantastic...
FLW had some amazing drawings
Vintage Morphosis drawings from the 80's and early 90's are beautiful.
Frank Ching - I was in arch school when jewel-tip rapidograph pens were still the norm and Ching’s books were what we all had on our desks.
