I'm currently a student at UC Berkeley studying biology. I am really interested in architecture and in the process of applying for MArch I programs.
Deadlines are approaching soon....so I wonder what are some helpful tips or advice in applying for grad schools? What is the single most important thing admission committees look for?
portfolio, i believe.... you will find a lot more info by searching threads in academia section. If you go to arch office in Wurster 2nd floor, you might be able to find some portfolio samples as well.
yeah, if you browse the site here there are tons of discussions about every aspect of applying to grad programs. although if you have some more specific questions that aren't really addressed elsewhere, i'm sure people here will be more than happy to help out.
Given that you are at UC Berkeley, go over to the Architecture Program at visit with graduate students there to gain some insight. I am not suggesting you necessarily attend UC but you have immediate access to an excellent program.
If you are just now thinking of applying for Fall 2009, I would advise against it because your application will not be ready or complete. Take a year to consider your options and apply accordingly.
You indicate an interest in architecture, but why? What have you done to confirm that this will be your chosen profession? Many consider attending Harvard's Career Discovery - six week summer program.
