Hi! I’m going to apply to Master’s program at TuDelft so I have to choose a specialization (Architecture track).
I’m a bit confused - there are nine of them and I actually like the way they describe each one but it makes me curious if all specialisations are good. Is there anyone from the master’s course? I need further information. Is Dwelling any good?
check b_nieuws the school news-paper blog where you can find final projects from the different studios and all kinds of other information about the different studios etc.
here a list of the studios of the published projects
bn10_studio border conditions - public building - mapping, situationists
bn9_explore lab - student chooses topic/teachers etc. so no department
bn7_building technology - obvious
bn5_european master of urbanism -
bn4_border conditions - see above
bn3_public building, not sure though
bn2_not sure, could be public building
bn1_interior
then you also have
hyper-body think Kas Oosterhuis, digitalism
hybrid building, mixed programs in one building, like pamphlet architecture no.11, seattle library
interior, think Peter Zumthor, Tony Fretton and cubes
public realm, investigation from city aspects into a building
border conditions, investigate city through subjective obsessive mappings, guy debord etcetera
explore lab, student defines own project, and picks teachers for it, can be anything from large scale to small building unit (not sure)
dwelling, unite d'habitation and smithsons combination into large complexes for housing etc.
DSD delft school of design, Winy Maas, MVRDV
I’d been interested in Dwelling and Public until I read a parody on all the studios (Swelling, Boring, Pubbing and Terror-tory haha).
Now I’m puzzled. I’m interested in theory but don’t want to forget about design. So I’m trying to figure if they are really that boring and terroristic.
Yea, same confusion here, i am thinking of applying there too... only DSD.
Any idea if TU delft is really particular about its cut off's (GPA)
Since i am from India we dont calculate it in GPA system....
As I understand DSD is a second year program only (I mean that Winy Maas thing).
GPA - I had been confused about it too cause I had no idea how to do this. I got in touch with the Uni and they answered that they were going to calculate my GPA themselves. Phew.
ah, but still...architecture, especially my college were never too liberal with marks....eventually got a 59.7 % (60%) being a first class. What they told me was that they would accept first class and first class with distinction only.... not so Phew! for me.
D'you think applying anyway would be a good idea... considering they only look at the tags... first class, second class third class thing ?
Indians should keep up with international norms.... makes things so much simpler. Bah!
I think you may want to ask them the question. They answered all my questions I asked them by e-mail. Maybe this is not so important, but still they have this "GPA minimum 75%" thing.
yup, i did.... they answered too... they said first class and above... but since its a university they usually have pre requisites. Architecture however, usually is about portfolios, recommendation letters, sops and not so much about gpa's....or am i being hopeful?
I dont know if I should skip out Delft cuz of 0.3 %. bit hard to digest....
Well, I don't know about first class and any other classes... never heard of those.
I hope my GPA is 76% in case I counted it right.
I'll try. I have heard it's mostly about portfolios, so you may try too.
Congratulations!!
I didn't get in. The most stupid thing was not to include my rather good hand drawings into my porfolio because I had no idea what my portfolio should look like and decided it'd be irrelevant((
TU Delft. Affordable, Accomodation, University, Degree.... all this apart from the education i have heard to be good, from couple of the students i have met....
Depends on what you want from your study. Delft is rather good, but nobody can tell for sure it'll be good for you. Delft is cheap (fee, living). In any case, try to send several portfolios to all the schools you're interested in except those highly expensive ones, then decide. It's not so easy to get to school these days as all unemployed ppl go study. They are all good schools comparing to what you can get in the homeland.
Hey,
I have to select a specialisation from TU and i am a bit confused between the why factory http://thewhyfactory.com/
and DSD.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanx for the link, that’s interesting to take a look at the projects but I still have no idea which of the specializations each project belongs to.

我也非常感興趣的有關代爾夫特,但是他的專業知識,我感到有一些驅動器中的油漆, “技術合作的問題-這正是我需要的?然而聽到很多很好的意見和論據的大學本身。
