I imagine some people are applying to graduate school this fall, and are perhaps working on their portfolios at this very minute.
I think it might be useful if some people could share their portfolios from years past, with a little info (statistical round-up) of what schools they applied to and were admitted by.
Also, people applying this year, share your drafts and let us offer some constructive criticism.
I would start, but the computer containing my portfolio has recently crashed. Consider my contribution forthcoming.
I still see presentation boards and folios with that font and it makes me sick. The way I look at it, if you use TNR, go write a term paper, don't go to architecture school.
You should also search the threads. There have been at least 50 of these kinds of posts in the last 4 months alone with people sharing their experiences and work.
Another thing I've seen people do which will instantly guarantee that your portfolio gets consigned into the rubbish bin is if you use a store-bought family photo book with plastic lamination sheets to put in cutout images of your work.
Not saying you would be the type to do this, but just don't. Plain and simple.
I have searched the threads, but I think its important to have something floating on the surface of Archinect, providing a recent and accessible forum of portfolio discussions.
I acknowledge the existence of other posts regarding portfolios, but feel it might be more PERTINENT to begin a new thread with NOW-NESS as a primary function.
~For all those shorties out there applying this year~
Well I put it out there for you so there you have it. If it isn't good enough that's your opinion.
In all likelihood, you're going to have a difficult time getting people to post their folios twice specially since they've already posted them not too long ago. I'm just saying. It's "pertinent" for you and not for them.
People get bent out of shape easily around here when it comes to repetitive topics. Just giving you the heads up. that's it.
Time for portfolio workshop

Go get 'em!
Don't use Times New Roman for your font!

I'm aware of the power struggles floating around this internet community. And I respect the values of each and every one of you.
This thread would be most appropriate for people in the process of working on their portfolios, for the coming Fall of 2009.
The title of this thread is "2009 M.Arch Applicant Commiserate Here." It can't get any clearer than that man...
