Essential skills for architecture jobs

adora

I haven't been working in architecture for several years due to medical reasons. I did stay in design, mostly freelance graphics work such as wedding invites. I'm ready to get back in full employment in architecture. Just wondering what's changed in the field.

Obviously, CAD skill is a must. What else? I'd love to hear your advice.

Revit, and Energy modeling as the energy codes are changing.

Wat sort of work do you want to do, interiors, healthcare, Hospitality or skyscrapers? what ever you want to focus on read and seek out information on the latest trends and concepts so you are up to speed on what the field has produced lately. Some areas lean towards specific software, Residential tends to be cad and Skethup where I am located, Healthcare loves Revit and is one of the best places to apply BIM AKA Revit, other programs have eked out a following in different sectors to some extent but there are always exceptions.
