Dell, IBM and most have laptops comparable to the Air

I like the Dell's, personally. Take a look at the small XPS, powerful and tiny.

New Macs coming on 14th Oct. (not a rumor since invites have been sent to the press). Don't forget they run Windows natively too, just a suggestion since from my own experience they are lighter than most full featured notebooks.

I don't recommend anything smaller than a 15" display (the tool bars take up valuble workspace).

If you are after a PC though then go for:

http://www.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/workstation_precision_m4400?c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd

since these have been designed for workstation use. anyone have any other recommedation on the PC front (anything that isn't a silly games machine)

Also the Air and it's PC siblings just aren't good enough for 3D modeling, they are way too under powered.
