The help function is surprising.......helpful in Revit. I learned almost everything I know in Revit just by screwing around and when I got stuck, I went to the help menu.

revit column extrusion
first time revit user, how do you extend/expand a column in revit?
check the element properties.
you will have to edit the family to make the column a particular size.
adjust the height in the elements properties
typically revit comes with a default library of nearly all the steel shapes, so changing flanges or web thicknesses should not be needed.
