Benefits of exchange programs ?

ARC.mar
Besides having attending a good school program and having excellent skills , blah blah blah... Does being an exchange student help to get the attention of the big firms while applying for a job or it just doesn't matter for them?? If not, what could possibly be the benefits of exchange programs for a future architect?(besides the cultural enrichment of course) i'm talking about both long and short term benefits...

Firms that want to innovate look for people who have varied experiences and perspectives. One of the benefits of an exchange is that being in a different place shows you different approaches to design and life. This is very valuable because--especially in the design field--the more information and perspective you can draw from, the better informed your projects will be.

Doing an exchange also shows adaptability to different cultures (provided you are going somewhere that they actually have a different culture, and not just to London or another predominantly English-speaking country). Working in an office or going to school with people who don't speak English as a first language can be frustrating but also leads to insights and opinions you never would have known about otherwise.

Highly recommended if you can afford it!
