I'm not an AIA member, and my state only requires CEU reporting every 2 years, so I'm not rushing to complete any right now, but I got some from getting LEED accreditation this year (my state counts that for 3 units if you just took the test, but more if you also took organized study seminars), and I got about 8-10 from lunch'n learns, and I'll probably count the rest from doing course development for a class I taught, as my state allows that, but be sure to check with your own state rules...

not sure where the link is, but there a plethora of free hsw credits to be had through arch record. i did 6 in less than 2 hours (they're all open book tests of 10 questions each. get 8 right, they autoreport it to aia.

You could get 1+ years worth of HSWs via (28 1-hour courses) all for free via NYSERDA's High Performance School Design Online Training course.

I self-report a LOT. For example, Ball State just had an alumni symposium, I'll report all of it. I'm on the AIA board, that apparently counts for some too.

What does that mean?

Forgive my ignorance. Between teaching, clients, the City of Corruption, etc.. I am not totally versed in this. I did quite a bit of stuff with Kaplan the last few years (heavy on the HSWs) but need some stuff this year.

Oops, maybe if you're not AIA you can't self-report? The AIA website has an area that allows you to report activities you do that are not presented by an "official" CEU provider. So, for example, when i took part in a local neighborhood association planning session, I reported it; I went to a seminar on BIM, from a non-official provider, and self-reported it; Maya Lin lecture (that was actually sponsored by the AIA), etc.

My state (Indiana) allows the AIA transcript to serve as a record for the state-required CEUs. So I keep track of it on the AIA website, then if I ever get audited I just have to print it out.

The HSW credits are hard to get via self-reporting, so I'll probably go to the upcoming AIA tri-state convention to pick up those.
