John McCain wants to tax your employer-provided health care benefits.

blah
John McCain wants to tax your employer-provided health care benefits. He wants to replace those benefits with an insufficient tax credit--$2500 for individuals and $5000 for families (the average cost per family for health insurance is $12000).

But make no mistake: this plan will do little or nothing for those who do not have insurance now--unless they are young and healthy--and it may well hurt a fair number of workers, especially unionized workers, who get gold-plated benefits from their employers.

I am sure that bankrupting the country by accumulating huge budget deficits is another "task that is from God.''

And then we can go to war with Russia over Georgia. How much did the President of Russia pay McCain's foreign policy advisor for this?

I was hoping my health care would cost $300 a month! The $200 I pay just isn't enough. Is there any way we could maybe devise a plan that both taxes benefits if you can get them, while also making it much more unlikely that you'll be able to get benefits if you're not in top health?

I am concerned about how pre-exiting conditions will play out in all this health care reform.

"Credits" is stupid, in general. Look at credit cards. If people can't manage their own money, how the hell are they going to manage money coming from someone else?

I pay $4000 a year in health care.

Instead of fighting between the Dems socialised and doomed to fail health care anf the republicans fuck me in the ass health care - Why dont we instead revolt against the insurers who are pulling the strings and screwing with the pricing structure - the one that makes it $250 to see an eyes/nose throat doctor for an average time per visit of 2:35.

Dont you see the insurer wins under both scenerios - actualy more so under government sponsered since they are now guranteed payment in a "public private" partnership.

Your venom is misdirected.

Screw the unions - they destroyed this country.

I can see it now...

Washington, DC. President McCain announced today that all Americans will, effective immediately, be required to turn over 100% of their income to the IRS. Instead of being paid by their employers, workers will now be sent monthly stipend checks, dubbed "Liberty Cash" by the administration, from the Federal government. The amount of the checks will be adjusted based on official "Terror Threat Level" and other factors.

Several Democratic members of Congress were quick to denounce the new tax scheme as "nothing short of communism." McCain's spokesman fired back saying "It is unpatriotic and disgraceful to equate this tax plan with the great evil of communism. We are calling the new plan "Freedomism". Any true red blooded American wouldn't question this plan. It is absolutely necessary to keep this beautiful country from being destroyed by the terrorists."

holz - yup, pretty scary. I am all for a nationalized healthcare system, but I don't want to give 90% decent coverage and make 10% suffer and go broke (although that's about where we are now).

Why do we like America so much? I am beginning to wonder.

So make sure you get out and vote. My office actually offers 2 hours PTO if you need it to get to the polls. 50% voter turnout is horrendous America! Make your opinion counts, show up at the polls!

Mark your calendars:
Democrats - November 4th
Republicans - November 5th
