Clerical work? Sorry, but the best thing you can do for yourself right now is to vote for the Republicans. You do the math. When a firm hires you, they also must hire an attorney to protect themselves from government agencies that claim to represent you and your interests. They must hire an accountant. They must purchase loads and loads of insurance. Premiums are by-and-large directly proportional to the gullibility, paranoia, and severity of sleep disorder in the policy holder.
If you could perform all the "clerical work" your employment itself requires - along with enough extra tasks to pay for the office space you occupy, the insurance coverage caused by your very presence, workers comp, unemployment insurance, health coverage . . . and manage to still get something done for the benefit of yourself and your employer - - -
"If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch;
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run -
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man my son!"
(Rudyard Kipling for that last part. He sure said it well!)
another 10 years of repugs, wiping out OSHA, etc. and almost everyone will form/join unions. oh, yeah, and then there'll be all those lawsuits... which the repugs then will finish banning.. leading to a revolution.
Work at a firm
How do you go about getting a job at a firm? You know something simple like clerical work just to get you in that environment.
send a resume w/cover letter
call and ask to talk to HR or who ever might do hiring
knock on doors and ask for a job
the same ways everyone goes about getting jobs
Thanks A. It never fails that someone leaves a snazzy comment in these threads.

. . . And then Elvis becomes popular in China and we do it all over again.
