Cost for Shop Drawings

Anob

Good Morning y'all,

I've been working in a Construction office doing shop drawings. I recently took a great position at a huge architecture firm. I'm planning to leave my job but I want to continue producing shop drawings especially heading to a busy construction season and we all know how busy it gets before a new year.  I am getting paid hourly and it sometimes takes me  just 1 day to finish a set of Shops but i get paid for 38hrs. I'm looking to charge them more because I will no longer be in the office and this will save them a lot of money..

Basically how should I charge for sets of shop drawings?

Thank you wurdan freo. I've decided to charge a percentage of the total project cost. I saves them money. I make more money per project and makes it worthwhile to work extra hours after a 8-5 job.

how much did you end up charging? or what was your percentage?

I am in the same situation right now and not sure what to charge.

Madonafarag,

Because of the size of the projects and the detailing needed I would charge them .5% to 1%.
