hi, i've imported images into my indesign layout and jpegs are turning out blurry/choppy... i set them at 300dpi in photoshop, but that doesnt seem to be doing the job.. is there a preferred or much correct way of going about placing images in indesign?
i tried view> display performance and setting it at a higher quality and doesnt seem to do anything.. also did view> overprint preview and i think it gets a little better... a friend mentioned that i had to set some option starting with an O but didnt know the rest.. lol.. don't know if thats anything anyone is aware of... thanks for your helps
the images are linked and just displayed at a lower quality so that indesign can run faster. i'm guessing you haven't printed them yet because they'll print out at the quality of the original jpg.
if the low quality is the view on the screen, go to the "VIEW" menu at the top, then down to "DISPLAY PERFORMANCE", then select "HIGH QUALITY DISPLAY" and it will display as per quality of image.
if Indesign can't find the referenced images it will print the low quality images stored for viewing. Try relinking the files before you print. Once they are linked, export to pdf and then print.
Also, it sometimes helps to select the image you want to view and then, while it's selected, right-click to get a pull down menu. Scroll down to DISPLAY PERFORMANCE, and then HIGH QUALITY DISPLAY (as people said above.)
I've found that if you do this without any images selected, it sometimes doesn't re-render all the images on screen, leaving them blurry.

Is the image printing poorly, or just displaying onscreen poorly?

Its called an xref ppl

yeah, try printing (or exporting to PDF). if it looks fine there, you're good. if it looks choppy still there, you've got big problems.
this is the best response i've gotten on archinect... 7 ways different ways to say the same thing.. this is awesome reassurance.
