I haven't received any letter or email stating that I was officially accepted but I did receive an e-mail telling me to log onto the UW forum for admitted students. so...I'm kinda confused right now...and I certainly don't want to get excited for nothing...
let's wait and see what the others applicants have to say.....
I wouldnt choose Ryerson over Waterloo. I meant i was nervous because a) I wont know about Carleton for a while, b) Ryerson already sent out their first round and i didnt get anything, so pretty much my last chance for getting into an arch program is Carleton... which i dont have a problem with i was 100% set on going there until i saw Waterloo... besides my friends will be trilled to get me up in ottawa next year, but its the fact that i only have 1 more chance.
I havent heard ANYTHING at all from Waterloo, they didnt even email me telling me that im NOT in... any ideas? did they decide not to email the rejects?
(sorry to burst your bubble) If you havent heard anything, you probably weren't accepted. i emailed Donna and she said all of their acceptances and waitlist things have gone out. you can email her and check out why you werent accepted(ie portfolio or precis) she'll let you know.
No, from what i was told "you will be receiving an official notice of our decision from the Office of the Registrar, University of Waterloo" which means it will be mailed out in a nicely worded letter telling us, good try but ur not good enough. oh well it wasnt my first choice.
Does your Quest account still says "Application"? Cause I thought that it would be there first if you were denied. I'm pretty sure I was denied, but I want to be 100% sure. I wish they could just make it "OFFICIAL" already!
check your OUAC account, if theres nothing in the bubble for offers then you havent gotten one, if there is one you'll find it there.
I havent been able to log onto quest.. which is rather annoying since ive been accepted to other programs at waterloo and want to check it out. but your best bet is ouac, the sent them out yesturday so it should all be on the site today if ur in*keeping fingers crossed for you*(i emailed Donna and got the official 'not good enough')
Yeah thats the exact same thing as me. I really want to live in residence, plus my best friend is up at carleton(done her 1st year) and has a house there next year so ive got a place to escape rez if needed too
yep i've lived in mtl all my life, its a great place to be as a student, ppl are cool, the nightlife there is amazing (although you might be studying all the time...) and what's really cool is that you'll be directly in downtown montreal, near the commercial district, the coffee shops, good restaurants, etc.
i actually did apply to mcgill... but because i'm really busy finishing a bachelor at this very moment, I decided to focus on carleton's portfolio and waterloo's interview, and didn't hand out a portfolio for McGill...oups. anyways i really wanted to get into a Co-op program AND get away from home for a while. I also applied at UdeM (french university in which i am right now), but wtv, i wanna study in english!!
right now, im still waiting for Carleton to make up my mind... ottawa is SO much closer to Mtl and I'd be living at my cousin's. but from what I've heard, Waterloo seems sooo much better rated...am I wrong??
haha i was in the same shoes! kinda.
i gave up carleton's portfolio, and focused on mcgill's portfolio. carleton's portfolio was just too specific.
im kinda confused, r u enrolled in UdeM right now? so are you applying to the undergrad programs?
IMHO, you should definitely choose waterloo over carleton!! waterloo has gained a lot of recognition and reputation over the last few yrs, and most students get job offers even b4 they graduate!! i personally know a 3rd yr student at waterloo, and she loves it there.
I wouldnt necessarily say Waterloo is better then Carleton, Carleton is more of an artsy school, while I think Waterloo forcuses on more of a technical skill for architecture.
The locations are drastically different though. As a person who grew up in Waterloo 15 minutes from their main campus, the Arch building out in Cambridge is just so secluded and to me doesnt seem like a real university experience. If you are just interested in the school and don't plan to venture out, Waterloo might very well be the best option. Carleton however is a nice closed in campus. The residences are a 10 minute walk from any of your classes(the architecture building being one of the closest to residences) and for all of you underage people hull is very close by.
Even if i did get into Waterloo I would still have a hard time deciding because being in a residence first year is really important to me, and Waterloo just doesn't have this.
Really you just need to see each school in person, take a tour, and then evaluate which place seems like the spot for you to be for the next 4/5 years etc It all depends on who you are, what your personality is, and how you want your university years spent
I'm finishing a major in Urban Planning right now, and I'm pursuing another bachelor (and a master's degree) to become an architect. it's a lot but hey, i'm still young and i've got a whole life in front of me! plus, jobs in urban planning are not that easy to find...
I'll definitely check out the Carleton campus...that is, if i get in...they are so slow and its getting quite annoying, especially compared to Waterloo who made their decisions in less than a week...
I know eh, I really want to know tomorrow, if they havent let me know by lunch I'm calling carleton to get the answer or maybe mr waddel will respond to my email and let me know, either way tomorrow I'm making my decision and deposit for university, if not carleton arch, then carleton law, and if not that then actuarial science at waterloo. Ahh it'll be a big weight off my shoulders
so, did you call carleton? (preston) if so, what did they say?
I still haven't received anything by email or by post...and both Carleton Central and OUAC arent confirming anything...what is taking so long??? the decisions are supposed to be done by now!!! i guess i might be on the waiting list...
Yeah, i emailed Kristopher Waddell, he said all of the offers were sent out on friday, and a second round of admissions might be sent out at the end of the month if necessary. I also called the admissions department(to check on my law application) and they confirmed all acceptances have indeed gone out. If you have another application into a different program at Carleton they will be making the changes this week so that that program is now your first so you can recieve an offer(if you were elligable). From what i gather, if you have heard anything you didnt get first round picked, and i have no idea about wait list the guy didnt mention anything, but even if i did get wait listed im not waiting until the end of the month to find out... so im probably going to take law oh well
Accepted by Waterloo Architecture?
I was just wondering who has gotten their offers...
I'm anxious to know whether I have been accepted or not..
um....i THINK i just got accepted lol.
I haven't received any letter or email stating that I was officially accepted but I did receive an e-mail telling me to log onto the UW forum for admitted students. so...I'm kinda confused right now...and I certainly don't want to get excited for nothing...

where do you live though? did you check ouac?
I live in Mtl, so its kinda normal that if they sent a letter, I didnt get it yet. but I thought they'd be sending emails first.
just checked OUAC and its written «offer» next to my Waterloo application!!! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAY
so who might I see in september?? :)
lawrence, did u pass an interview or had a portfolio mailed-in?
portfolio was mailed in, i haven't got an offer yet.. shoot me ur email lol
im still waiting too,
did the mail-in
im soo nervous, i keep on refreshing the ouac website like 4 times/min
So I still haven't heard anything from Waterloo...are we sure they're emailing everyone regardless of the decision?
did u do mail-in?
Nope live interview
i mailed... cmon, i really want to get into waterloo..
Me too especially since I haven't heard anything from ryerson.. Ahhh 3am in the morning with work the next day I'm gonna be sleepy
um.. why would you choose ryerson over waterloo? I was wondering if University of Toronto was any good as an undergrad for architecture.
I havent heard ANYTHING at all from Waterloo, they didnt even email me telling me that im NOT in... any ideas? did they decide not to email the rejects?
same here, no idea

true thanks. So you don't get an email if you were denied?
No, from what i was told "you will be receiving an official notice of our decision from the Office of the Registrar, University of Waterloo" which means it will be mailed out in a nicely worded letter telling us, good try but ur not good enough. oh well it wasnt my first choice.

Nah OUAC is blank. DENIED!
Ahh who needs Waterloo... too close to home anyways(for me at least). Where else did you apply?
Carleton and Ryerson, I really want to go to Carleton though, More so than Waterloo, so I could move into rez.
Yeah thats the exact same thing as me. I really want to live in residence, plus my best friend is up at carleton(done her 1st year) and has a house there next year so ive got a place to escape rez if needed too
ayyyy that means I'm rejected too...boooo~~~
at least i don't have to decide btw waterloo and mcgill now!! haha
xgracyx, you got accepted at McGill?? that's really great!
isnt it harder to get into McGill? how many students do they admit?
oh and by the way.......Montreal is the greatest city in the world!! hehe...
from a non-biased Montrealer.
lol u r a montrealer?
that's great! did u apply to mcgill too?
or r u set on going to waterloo?
i guess mcgill is not bad, on the bright side, the program is only 4 yrs long
yep i've lived in mtl all my life, its a great place to be as a student, ppl are cool, the nightlife there is amazing (although you might be studying all the time...) and what's really cool is that you'll be directly in downtown montreal, near the commercial district, the coffee shops, good restaurants, etc.
