I'm going to see Nick Cave live in concert this next friday... has anyone seen him in this Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!! tour? ...
I've never seen him before and I'm not gonna go home without some Mercy Seat..
i had never heard of or listened to nick cave until just recently.
last week, i was at a movie theatre waiting for the film to start. the pre-movie entertainment featured background music by indie artrists, and one of those featured was nick cave's "dig lazarus dig!"
Is was basically a Nick Cave set + encore (9 songs) masquerading as some sort of indie music awards show hosted by Patton Oswalt. But since we had to wait through the awards it cost only $10. Definitely ROCK. Red Right Hand was probably the mellowest song if that gives you an idea. But again as it was only one set we probably didn't really see the full gamut. You can actually see most of the show at this blog post that has a bunch of YouTube links. Red Right Hand is missing though - here it is.
great.. I love some of his piano mellow melodies... but more for listening at home than for a concert... I see they didn't played The Mercy Seat.. I cross my fingers for this next friday
Nick is the shit! Saw him and the Seeds on Blixa's last tour with them - Nocturama. Top 5 shows ever. Please post reviews. Tupelo rocks, shit everything the man does rocks, his movie rocked....Birthday Party rocks.....everything!
and this from my favorite rocker in the May/June 2008 issue of Radar - when talking about Brighton...

nick cave is a great performance act. i have seen him in a small club in melbourne in late 90's.
red right hand is great... in that DVD 'God Is In The House' (Paris, 2001) they did a wonderful job with that song...
I can't stop listening 'Breathless' today... it has this kind of weird flute... and that beatlesque melody has been in my head all day..

as someone say in the comments list of the Breathless video:
"Nick Cave, a calypso beat and CG bunnies...am i high?"
but this song is fabulous
I saw him with the Bad Seeds last month in New York. I've never seen him before but I'm not really a big fan - my wife is. One word . . . awesome.

i dug it!
great! thanks pollen!.. I've been a fan for some time, but the last time he played in Barcelona was in 1993... I didn't even know who he was back then
by the way pollen,
is this more of a rock show or does he play slow piano stuff? or both?
Oh... I thought this thread was about where Nickman's secret headquarters is....
To the Nickmobile!
Nick Cave and Shane Macgowan (sober.. almost) - weird Louie Armstrong's 'What a Wonderful World' cover

As that song is 20 years old I wouldn't count on it - you never know though. Man he looks young in that video . . .
yes, but it's a classick from his repertoire... even Bowie plays his own classicks no matter how many times he has said he would never play them again
pollen, where did he play in NYC last month? I can't believe I missed that!
I'm loving his last few albums, and the Grinderman project was probably my favorite.

The Proposition is such a good movie

Bitch slapped with the Red Right Hand.
alright, enough CAD for today... I'm leavin'..
Mr. Cave you won't leave this city alive if you don't play The Mercy Seat!
this is what the band has been playin' (more or less the same set-list in every city) in the first three dates of this tour...
http://farawayandclose.blogspot.com/2008/04/nick-cave-no-coliseu-de-lisboa.html
for what I've heard the band is still a little bit uncordinated but the material is some furious, high-octane rock'n'roll.. yeah!
here's some videos I did... great concert, not too much piano (just Into My Arms) and a lot of noise..

Probably 'Papa Won't Leave You Henry' was the highlight of the night..
