Can you have a great day at the office everyday? This project was design by two 4th year architecture students at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in collaboration with RNT Architects San Diego though a professional Study/Work Program. This project was a video and it illustrates how we should design for the workplace of the future, through a mix of current trends and timeless ideas. The workplace should be designed around the user and enhance individual experiences there by heightening positivity, innovation and creativity in the office. This exploration extends to the macro scale by implementing these ideas to first the floor plate and then the office building as a whole. The office of the future should be more than just a place to work, it should be a place of collaboration whether intended, impromptu or otherwise, and the building should respond to the life inside it.

We believe that these ideas of the future of the workplace should be shared with as many designers across the globe.

Thank you very much for viewing and enjoy,

really enjoyed watching

this is interesting topic and as much as I prefer collaborative work environment there is an real issue with much needed privacy. I wonder what could be done to accommodate both and be as flexible as possible.

Tiko-G - That is a very interesting topic that we both spent quite a good about of time discussing. Privacy is great but primarily between small groups, not necessarily individuals. The idea of personal "private cubicles" is diminishing. Through our research and others, we discovered that workers tend to work better when they are around others in a more comfortable environment but that is not always the case.

We thought about the ideas of moving walls and partitions to be flexible and accommodate the unknown future but we went in a different direction. What sort of privacy were you thinking?
