Choosing a Computer...

Cedou

I am looking forward to buying a mac notebook. The thing is, I don't know which one to choose (talking about screen size).
I'll be entering a master in architecture, will it matter for me if I have a 15 inch or a 17 inch? What do you guys think??

what can you run on a mac and not a pc? not much
what can you run on a pc not a mac? lots!!

its all in what you want to use.. software wise

pc can run all the architectural software you'll ever want
also. its much easier to get "special" versions of software for pc

but... if everyone in your class has a mac.. you might want one.. but i dont know if everyone in architecture school uses a mac. i know for a fact that people at schools i know of Lawrence Tech, Dalhouse, etc use PC's.

a pc is cheep and you can get more bang for your buck

i recommend. basically anything with a dedicated video card (at least 256meg DEDICATED) and at least 2 gigs of ram

i also have a Core 2 Duo processor. i love it. and i hear that they preform much better than the AMD processors. but my knowledge could be a bit dated

dont forget about screen resolution. its very important to me. try and find something with a nice resolution.

thank you very much for the advice.
Anyone knows what device and programs are used at Columbia??

I'll make my decision based on that...

Anyway, to come back to my original question!
If I buy a mac, will I be better off with a 17 inch screen or a 15?

I could also get a 15 inch with a 23inch display that'll stay in my house.
Isn't the 17inch too much of a burden??
What do you think?
