E,
I checked them out when I was living in LA just last year. I went down to SD for a tour. But there are so many good schools like USC, UCLA Sci-Arc and Cal State Pomona all in Southern Cali. that unless you want to live specificly in SD there is no reason to go.
Now let me just say San Diego looks like a cool ass town! The climate is dam near perfect. The city is also alot cleaner then Los Angeles. Its has a bunch of nice modern lofts/buildings and also just a much more relaxed vibe then LA. It's also close to TJ for some shady activities.
If you plan on living in San Diego after graduation I'm sure you'll make connects/contact's that will help you land a job much more easier then someone coming from out of state.
Over the past few years there has been post similar to yours and unfortunately no New School alumni or students have ever bother to set the record straight, that in it self tell alot about the school. The New School is the only game in town if want to earn a Masters degree in SD. Woodbury in San Diego only has a 4/5 year program in connection with San Diego City College. To bad San Diego State University doesn't have a architecture program.
I checked them out when I was thinking about going for an M.Arch and like blue mentioned there are other very good and in my opinion better schools in So.Cal than New School. I was not too impressed with the program. It's almost seemed to me like a Architecture version of one of those trade schools like Heald, DeVry, etc. this is just my opinion though. Good luck with your search of schools.
I forgot to mention I was referring to their M.Arch program. Yes, there are a lot of M.Arch programs in that area like UCLA and USC. I only knew about NewSchool because they seem to aggressively show up on Internet searches. They have lower entrance requirements (2.75 GPA) and to make up for it, it's a lot more expensive. I believe it's about 18K per year for tuition.
Doing an Internet search, yes, I haven't found much input from the students/alumni. Even the school blog from this site lacks input from them.
I have found that this company Studio E (http://www.studioearchitects.com) has two people in their staff, one that is teaching and one that is studying at the school. Perhaps I will ask them to give us some input.

NewSchool of Architecture
How is the reputation of the NewSchool of Architecture in San Diego? Anyone currently studying or graduated from there?
