hey...sorry dont have an answer about Acad Arch...in my experience i have found that it behaves differently sometimes than just regular acad. i dont think i could use overkill, and not sure about flatten.
If flatten doesn't work, can you do some creative file format changes? Example: print top view to PDF, open in Illustrator, export to a .dwg, then re-open in AutoCAD?
the current version of "flatten" (in the express tools) seems to be a slightly tweaked version of the old LISP routine. It appears to be used to make 2D versions of 3D elements whereas the old version took all z-values and made them zero--the new one doesn't work well if you have coplanar linework at a z-value other than 0; it also appears to be view-dependent (like Rhino).
Anyone have the old version (R2000)?? I've unfortunately lost mine and it was quite a handy little tool…especially when cleaning up someone else's sloppy drafting.
flattening an autocad 2008 drawing
i know this has been covered before on earlier versions of Autocad but i can't get those solutions to work on Acad Arch 2008.
... running the lisp command may work but i don't know how the hell to do that
prost!
* i don't have express tools
have you tried 'overkill' ?
dont know if that works in 08...
oh and im guessing your not talking about getting rid of extraneous lines either...
great work me...
type in the command flatten, select what you want to flatten...

good luck.
thanks for the replies but neither "overkill" or "flatten" work ~ bollocks!
any other suggestions?
Flatten works for me.
