Architectural Hardware

I am working on a small wooden deck project. For a storage space underneath I am looking for hinges and door hardware with a modern/concealed look. The deck's sides will be clad with cedar wood siging.

Can anyone recommend a hardware company for exterior applications.

ooops...you specifically asked for exterior hardware. I'm not sure if Nanz has any exterior stuff. But the website is a good guilty pleasure, nonetheless. :)

And somewhat related, I found a great website that shows photos of fence / chain link fence components. I guess this is the best thread to share it:

Good point, Why. I listed Sugatsune because so much of their stuff is stainless, though mostly not intended for exterior use, I guess. Pricy and nice, though !

you should get some nice strap hinges!

juuuuust kidding.

actually, lately i've been really into weld on hinges...

which might be nice if you've got a metal frame...

I just noticed a gate with (less lovely) welded-on pin hinges like these, with the bottom one reversed to make the gate captive. Should it bother me that the top hinge then bears all the weight ? Or could we say it would be a miracle if both hinges in a "normal" installation were so applied that they bore the load equally. . .?

you need boat/marine hardware... there's a few great boating hardware companies out there... I'm blanking on the one we used to use at my old firm, but here's an idea:

johnson marine

Lowes used to have some of their hardware marked 'Marine". If you can't find that I would use stainless steel and see how it weathers. You can always replace it later.
