I am a completely new to ArchiCad, I am looking to produce a wireframe landscape....think cover of Joy Division, Unknown Pleasures or the sort of thing you get when you see plotter images of the ocean floor.
I have tried 'googling'.....I went to a demonstration of ArchiCad and it seemed like the tool to use.....so....
One thing that ArchiCAD isn't too hot on is topo. I really like the program, but there's things I know they didn't spend a lot of time on.
That said, make a mesh with a lot of points, then go into the 3D view, and option-click to bring up the little button-box to the side of the cursor - there should be a little angle type symbol with a Z on it - click on it and and stretch away!
once the Mesh is done and you are looking at it in the 3D window save as a .2dl (2d drawing) it will save the view at the same angle that you are looking at and it will convert the mesh into lines it will make its own separate file, just open it up and clean up accordingly.
Sometime when all you have is a hammer, everything starts to look like a nail.
I wouldn't recommend ArchiCAD for even moderately complex topography, but if you don't have access to the other programs, then you'll just have to muddle through.

Advice = Autodesk Autocad
mesh tool, 3d wireframe

advise - Rhinoceros
the terrain plug-in it works for autocad
you can always do topo in max and export it to acad
once the Mesh is done and you are looking at it in the 3D window save as a .2dl (2d drawing) it will save the view at the same angle that you are looking at and it will convert the mesh into lines it will make its own separate file, just open it up and clean up accordingly.
