3.5 Year Graduate Program Questions?

josh319

While this is my first post, I read these forums frequently, and was hoping someone could give me a little bit of insight into the 3.5 Year Program as a whole.  I am currently enrolled in University at Buffalo's B.A. General Studio Art degree and will be completing it in May of 2012, with a GPA from UB sitting at roughly 3.6-3.8 range and an overall GPA of about 3.3-3.5.  My questions are as follows:

As far as a Portfolio is concerned, what do admissions want to see?  I have gotten extremely mixed results for this question and would like some clarity.  Some people have said that Schools don't want to see figurative drawing, while others have said they don't necessarily want to see any CAD or Architectural drawings.

What schools would be a good fit for someone interested in a contemporary design aesthetic, good in math and physics, with drawing/sketching and sculpture being my main background?

Finally what are the acceptance rates like for the 3.5 year program?

Thank you for your time.

I would imagine this post hasn't received any responses strictly based on the fact that it is more than clear that you have done little to no research about M.Arch programs. The simple truth is that every single program is different, and with that, has different requirements and expectations from portfolios. Do some research on programs you are interested in...most schools have extensive websites with more than enough information to figure out exactly what they are expecting from applicants. Then, go a step further and make contacts with the admissions staff/directors at the programs that you are still interested in. Nobody is going to tell you how to put an application or portfolio together...you need to rely on your own ambition and interests to get where you want to be.
