On occasion, while pan-ing in Illustrator my mouse will knock into my keyboard and inadvertently hit the page function and create a rectangle. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the page rectangle to disappear, and it's killing me. If anyone (or everyone if it is a stupid question) can tell me how, I would greatly appreciate it.
It happens to me all the time also. I just started playing with it after reading your question, and I think all you need to do is double click on the Page tool icon and it should go away, give it a shot.
