hotel reuse?

go do it

Does anyone have any knowledge or some examples of a hotel that has been converted into an apartment building?

The reason that I am asking is that there is a hotel that has been sitting unfinished for a couple of years and I want to see if the numbers would work to convert it into apartments. It is probably 1/3 finished. I think that it is insulated and sheet rocked from what I can see from the street and there is a large meeting room or conference room or something that just has the steel studs up and a little exterior sheeting on.

There are some stories in the web but they are a little thin on specifics.

Thanks for any leads

Wilfried Laurier University in Waterloo, ON (Canada) recently converted an old hotel into a new dormitory for freshmen. Might be worth looking into; I don't know if it was traditional or apartment-style rooms. McGill University in Montreal, QC (Canada again) also did that, and from what I hear it is the best dorm to get into on campus...

The Plaza Hotel in New York was rather famously turned into apartements & condos, yo!
