Wire binding?

dasein

I really want wire binding for my portfolio rather than icky GBC plastic - but I am having an impossible time finding it. Is it normally this hard to find?

I will be in New York next week, anyone had something metal bound there?

Please!!

I went to the store and found a wire bound spiral and used the binding from it. Be sure to get one that was punched at a similar diameter as your portfolio.

Most of the general copy centers do not use spiral wire binding anymore. Some occasionally will special order some for large orders. You may try a large printing firm that does large commercial projects. There is a type of wire comb binding that typically uses square holes punched in the paper. This type of binding is still fairly common. It looks pretty good. I don't know the official name.

i had a 10x10 portfolio/book that i took to kinko's to get punched...they have a terribl looking plastic spiral bind that is conveniently close to to a normal wire spiral bound notebook which i purchased for 1.99...i cut off the looped ends...(the notebook was 8.5x11 which gave me some leeway) and ran it through the pre-cut holes...looked good, was cheap and easy
