So, as a person from a non-architectural background, I have totally no idea what a TA does in an architecture class. Does the TA teach the class or does he assist the instructor in terms of class-related stuff?
I'm seriously considering applying for a TA position after my first year of M.Arch, since I don't really get enough scholarship as an international student.
yeah.. usually marking papers, administering tests/quizzes, preparing class handouts, organizing fieldtrips if any, supplementary labs/tutorials, and maybe giving one lecture in the end of the term.
Question about Teaching Assistant in Architecture
Hi everyone!

Thanks a lot for any information you provide :)
If it's in design, after sort of standing out in the first year, you'll probably (help) teach sophomore studios is there is an undergraduate program.
If it's not in design, you will assist them with class-related stuff, possibly grading and/or facilitating break-out sessions/labs.
I'm sure they'll match your skills to being a TA in the segment that is relevant.

@observant,
Thank you for the response. It's very helpful.
It's likely that I'll apply for a position in a construction class since I have a background in math and physics.
@accesskb
Thank you very much as well :) I think I'll enjoy doing this sort of work.
Does anyone know about the Student Instructor Position at UMich? Do you teach a class if you are offered the position?
