I'm doing some interiors for a museum using rhino...Flamingo Photometric rendering engine...I noticed there is a way to specify specific light sources using .IES file formats. Does anyone know where one can find accurate IES files? I found a couple of random sites and the lighting doesnt looks so hot....
also never used this setting in rhino....is adjusting the light the same? if not how do you control a light parameter?
Yup, from the manufacturer. If you have to have absolutely the correct lighting then you must have the fixtures spec'd and just pray that the manufacturer has ies files for you.
I've always heard about how great .ies files are, but alot of complaints about the various implementations in rendering engines. how well does this work? are there any really good rendering engines that use .ies files? (I know it was on the maxwell wishlist for a while)
anyone use ies lights with vray in rhino...I did some searching using google with little information on rhino implementation...there is plenty of info for vray in max but not rhino...I am curious...feel free to fill me in if you have any experience with this.
I did these with Flamingo Photometric...(due to time issues) I realize they are not photo realistic...But when time is an Issue, you go with what you can get.
For lighting Interiors I usually use eithe a Linear light or point lights. Then I raise the Wattage Output to what ever seems right...
