why don't you throw ice ice baby in the mix also.. he does kind of just start up again and keep going after saying 'lets get out of here..word to your mother..'
Somewhere [Badmotorfinger] from Soundgarden has a reprise..
I cannot fathom why you have been asked to do this Steven... or rather, I can fathom that you are doing this, but what an odd set of criteria.
i actually listened to 'the ocean' and, despite the two (more?) mentions here, it doesn't come to full stop. it just gets quiet but sound continues right through.
still working on this. i figure it will take a while. i have to listen toevery damn song that i want to include in order to check...
Steven, I suggested The Ocean because it is sort of a standard rock song that suddenly breaks into a balls-out blues jam for the last few stanzas. So it's a loooong fake ending, an ending that is different in sensibility from the rest of the song.
fake endings
now i'm kind of reaching:
mixed bizness.. beck
sabotage... beasties
(maybe).. angry mob.. kaiser chiefs

Haven't heard it in 10 years, but I do think NineInchNails MarchOfThePigs lunges back at you after a few taps..no?
Avett Brothers- Salina
Several false starts and stops, not to mention the title refers to my hometown! Check them out for some great bluegrass rock.
Opposite Day - Andrew Bird (great fake ending; lyrics refer to the idea itself)
I Never - Rilo Kiley (big bold and gigantic fake ending!)
Tables and Chairs - Andrew Bird (this one is a little more on the fence; shift happens half way through the song)
Blackbird - The Beatles
people are strange (cover) - echo & bunnymen
bicycle race - queen
head over heels-tears for fears (songs from the big chair)
(just like) starting over-john lennon
sick of myself - matthew sweet (thank you, vh1 classic)
was just reminded of this one this weekend while rocking out in my garage...
Artist: The Ramones

99 luftballons-nena (thank you, one hit wonder thread)
no more tears - ozzy (thanks guy on the train this morning whose ipod was so freaking loud i could clearly hear it from 6 feet away)
METAL!!!
As a twist, Steven, you could include Tangerine by Zeppelin, which has a fake beginning.
And is one of the best songs ever, of course.

opposite day is a great one, by the way.
Skinny Puppy's Process. Last track Cellar Heat ends, but is the beginning of Jahya, which is the first track of the CD.
