CUNY: city college ?

Peter Politi
I've just finished my first year at community college, took courses like structures, building materials, sus. practice in res./comm. building, math up to calculus, general physics 1 & 2. I'm set on detached residential design. I applied and was accepted to City College for the fall. I've been to visit, the building looked great, the model shop had all the toys, in all I went home optimistic. But I'm flighty, I thought I'd ask here first. Any alumni? Anyone know about their B.Arch/M.Arch? Do they work at setting up interns? I guess what concerns me is it's in Manhattan, so can I expect the focus to be on urban planning?

No fear Peter Politi.

All arch programs have an urban focus...an urban planning education is something very different all together.

land use, zoning, transportation, mapping, analysis...ZZZZzzzz...way more academic. Papers, research...then maybe a little design if there's studio opportunities.

Arch is generally always a skills based program and will offer electives in planning to make the education more comprehensive and social sensitive/responsible.

Are you getting the picture Peter?

Also, CUNY is a great school at an unbelievable price. Do it and don't look back. Or see if you can defer for a year and grow up a bit more. Don't waste your time or money on education if you dont care.

stay real yo.
