I'm designing a courtroom for the first time (a moot courtroom) and have a 3 seat judge's bench that needs to be 12" AFF. Is there an exception in ADAAG or elsewhere that excludes me from having to design in a 12' long ramp? How have people handled this?
we designed a mock-courtroom and placed a small ramp outside the courtroom for access to the dais.
i just checked the drawings for a recent federal courthouse project and the judges chambers are on the same level as their dais, the floor level makeup is done via a ramp outside their chambers.
