they have forum gallery shows (usually) every friday. basically student(s) work displayed in the smaller gallery on the lower floor of the new arts bldg.

that sounds interesting. i'm not sure where we would go from there though. i don't know the bloomfield hills area very well, other than the legendary beau jack's. any suggestions?

i can bring my boombox and some cardboard and we can have a breakdance session near the fountian......

We can head down to my hood (Royal Oak) afterward and have a beer or two. There's a neighborhood pub I've been meaning to check out for some time just south of 11 1/2 mile on main.

sounds good to me. i couldn't find much on the cranbrook event on their website, but how about we plan to meet at the inn place at 9? that would give people interested in the cranbrook event enough time to go there first.

the cranbrook gig is as soulfly mentioned, just an informal gathering at the forum gallery. the student council schedules the forum shows weekly throughout the year. it's up to the students to decide on the content so it changes regularly. it's a fun time.

it's usually over by 7ish, though if not sooner... i'll try and find out what the deal is with this weeks. i might suggest meeting a bit earlier at the inn.. but let me find out the forum schedule before setting a time...

oh my gosh...if jafidler is now considered a "lush" then it's probably a good thing that i'm not in detroit, a very good thing.

The Inn Place is good, but I thought they closed up shop a few months ago. If it's in Royal Oak you can definately count me in. I can crawl home from downtown RO. FYI, my studiomates and I try to make Thursday nights in Royal Oak/Ferndale a regular thing. We usually hit up 5th Ave for some pool, but lately we've been to The Bosco and even Woody's (I try to stay away from Woody's as I wasted 3 good years bartending there).

I have a friend who does rollerderby at the Masonic and I promised her I would catch a bout this year and, well, Friday is her last, so I'll be there for a while, but if the party continues late into the night, I'll try to find you guys, or if anyone wants to try to make it out on Thursday, drop me an email.

ps- In my opinion, Gusoline Alley has the best atmosphere in Royal Oak, if you're into the hole-in-the-wall, biker-ish, cramped dive bar with a great beer selection kind of thing.

i'm looking for a hott lady to hang with for that night.....

on a side note..i got kicked out of woodys a few years back for breakdancing there...hahah........

i'm in the same boat. I don't know if I can make it to Cranbrook in time but I'm game for drinks. Should we say 7pm at the Inn. This should give anyone wanting to stop by the Forum show plenty of time to make it down to R.O. I forgot to call the Inn to make sure they are open but will do that later today. I'll post here if there are any changes.

hmm. I'm indifferent. I've been to northern lights and slows. we also came to my hood last time.. what's coach insignia like? as long as i can get a cheap cold budweiser, i'm golden.

coach is where all the gm suits go after work - mid-price ($5 bottle beers). kinda cheesy 80s john portman, but it has amazing views of the city (80th floor of the rencen). it's a novelty, but maybe not the best atmosphere.

or there's the detroit beer company. very layed back, good local brewery, right downtown. might be good if we have a group of 5 or 6.

i'm really open.

hmm, coach sounds fun.. the views will give me a chance to snap a few pics of detroit...

i'm a fan of coach insignia but admittedly it's a bit of a weird environment...kind of like being in a spaceship or something because you're so far removed from the life on the ground.

beer company is fun too. i think jafidler & myself stopped there several times after our adventures in grosse pointe last winter. i've eaten many wings there.
