I don't have any first hand experience with HKS but 6 alums from my school (Prairie View) went to work there in 2005 and they're still there. If that helps.
I had an interview with them and they're pretty accepting so try them and see.
LOTS of our Alumns go to HKS. I heard good and bad about it. They offer lots of help with ARE and relatively good pay...BUT the joke is, "I'm going to HKS so that I can do bathroom details for the rest of my life." Its super-corporate, and you're going to specialize in some sort of condocs more than likely. I think the last statistic I heard was that only 1 in 30 employees actually do design work.
I haven't worked for HKS personally, nor do I plan on it, but that's what I've heard from my friends who have/do. Hope that helps.
There is a street intersection where my first and last name streets cross. I believe this is the only city that does this for me despite both being common street names.
Try Corgan and HDR-I worked for HDR and they were good.
Don't do Perkins or RTKL-I worked w/ RTKL on a job and not good...also when I was looking for a job RTKL was the lowest offer I received. Perkins I also worked with and they were just okay.
Look up some of the smaller firms in Dallas though-the ones listed above are corporate and feel very corporate. There are lots of smaller ones-just doa google search and visit them.
Hope that helps.
Also, try to fine a place to live close to where you work otherwise you will spend half your life in traffic.
HKS is a great firm and has recieved accolades as a best place to work at local, state and national level. they don't just hire anyone, only the top percentage of students.
i find it interesting on a sunday night you have little else to do, but come here and drag up threads that are 2 - 3 years old, and prior to the economic collapse. why no comments in the layoffs thread? dallas hks is mentioned at least, i don't know, 30 times?

If you're going big and coprorate in Dallas, I'd look at RTKL or Perkins & Will...depending on what type of work you want to do, but that's just me.
I hope you like traffic....and phillip johnson.
