yes. safari works for pretty much any html page you'll come across, but for that rare occasion that it cannot open something, you can use firefox.

Yes you can open zipped files on a Mac. Stuffit expander is a free program that is sometimes bundled with the OS.

You can zip and unzip files right in the Finder. It's fully supported.
