Yes... it is the PC vs Mac all over again. I'm currently a high school student looking forward to study architecture in university this fall, and I'm wondering what you guys think is the best laptop for an undergrad student.
During my research I found the following facts::
1. PC tend to have a lot more softwares related to architecture available for them, but tend to be unreliable at times.
2. Mac doesn't have as much compatibility, but they're safer to depend on. (By this meaning it won't randomly crash or host viruses.)
What do you guys think? I'm open to all opinions so please share your thoughts and experiences :)
I have a Macbook Pro with bootcamp or parallels on it. Its pretty reliable, although it does flub up sometimes. You can make it do things that would make most PC's explode though, like rendering, modeling, and autoCAD all the same time lol probably a bad idea in hindsight...
And now AutoCAD is on the Mac too, so thats AutoCAD, SketchUp, Vectorworks, ArchiCAD, Artlantis (I can' live without that program) Photoshop, etc. Just no Revit, and I'm assuming there never will be Revit for Mac.
My brother's PC (which is younger than my Mac and around the same price range) likes to crash opening word documents. I would say Macs are good, but I still back up EVERYTHING.
I'd contact your university and ask if they have any recommendations. You'll hear people on Archinect preaching for both Mac and PC, but honestly it comes down to personal preference more often than not.

^I should say I have bootcamp, but my office has Macs with parallels and it works great. You can run AutoCAD and use Mac apps.
