Thus, the 'pre-rupted' has the same knowledge, meaning and importance to that what is (or will be) changed. If we reverse the spatial relation between the 'changed' and the 'pre-rupted', the linearity of the action becoming thought is interrupted via metonymy by intermitted spaces in Time. Artcity is a city-wide festival of art and architecture located in
Calgary, Alberta, Canada. It takes place September 7th - 16th,
2007.
to breach harmony, fracture, burst. State of being broken. Tearing of tissue.
Fulmination of membrane. Moment between blocked passage and settlement
of violent motion. Force exiting confinement. Outgrowing the space of
walls. Fr. Rumpo. Pp. ruptus, to break. In medical language: acute explosive
disruption of the inner portion of an organ by pressure from within or
without. Resultant extravasation of its contents exteriorly.
There is a sense of movement and growth in the city of Calgary. It is
consistently defined by its physical and economic expansion. If there is a
momentum building to a point of rupture, here, or elsewhere, what is it?
Who are its actors, and what body does it constitute; what body could it
alter, or even ruin? Rupture infers aftermath. An event of severance. What
constitutes the flood that would rupture the dam, the membrane, the silently
straining status quo?
We’re calling artists to submit proposals which engage with Artcity’s 2007
theme: Rupture. We’re seeking works of performance, installation, multimedia,
and film/video that are of a highly critical and thought-provoking
stature that have the potential to operate within the settings of the previous
architectural pavilions. We also have a brand new pavilion for this year’s
festival for artists to consider engaging. These pavilions have made Artcity
what it is today and continues to evolve into: a vital locus for ideas and
dialogue for the city, and with its citizens. The confines of the site-specific
works should lend to the enactment of `rupture’. The winning selections will
not only derive their content from this notion, but will embody `rupture’ and
its implications within the artwork itself.

A Proposed Site
There are three open sites that will be tied to a location for set-up only, but are not sitespecific.
You have the option of proposing a site in the city of Calgary for which we can
plan your art work. Submissions could include site-specific projects, impromptu gallery
settings (vacant retail space, windows, lots, etc.). These submissions may not be tied to a
specific site, and could be performative events within the downtown core or elsewhere
within the city. These submissions may be video casts, projections, pod casts, sitespecific
installations, and free-roaming performative works which take place at given
times throughout the downtown. The work for this selection should be described in
minute detail, so that we can arrange every aspect accordingly.

3.) Digital Images of your work (no slides please). Please email your portoflio, or send
your work to our address below. If possible, please send large resolution files, A4-sized
images, on a seperate CD/DVD marked "Press-ready". This will enable us to immediately

4.) Submission application and Statement of your Proposed Project
including a detailed description of the site you want to work with/in. Please include all
the expenses/ production costs for your proposed projects.
Note: In addition to artist's fees, Artcity will provide assistance to cover material and
associated receipted expenses related to each project. There will be up to $1000 CAD
available for the Collection of Cubes, The Perpetual Tease Machine, and the MASt
pavilions. The remaining pavilions will have $500 CAD available for these expenses.

thanks for posting the call for art submissions, it def. helps a little... I'm embarassed to admit I was too impatient to open that gargantuan file...
I suspect the CFE was written by Mr.Woods himself. He does seem to have a flagrant disregard for complete sentences.
